My life is busy; filled with endless tasks that scream for attention. There is never enough time in a day to do all I think I have to do. It seems the pandemic should have created more time to read, relax and recreate. Breaking old habits has not been easy.
Nancy is helping me see that life with God is more than a morning devotion time of reading Scripture and saying some prayers. She is encouraging me to not settle for devotions but instead, become devoted to seeking and knowing God more intimately. Sometimes I find myself going through the motions of seeking Him quickly so that I can get on to the “tasks I have considered more important. The busyness of life seems to easily call me away from the one who gives life.
So, I am attempting to change my mindset, refocus my life, become less cluttered with tasks, and create more time for solitude. I keep hearing the Lord say, “Come away with me to a quiet place.” This is the place where I can find rest, refreshing and a fresh perspective for my day.
My friend, Henri Moreau, support raising trainer for FMI said, “If you don’t take a break, you will break.” [Henri – what you have been saying is finally starting to sink in.] I push too long without rest for my spirit, soul and body. That happens to people like me who value what we do more than we value God and ourselves.
I realize God is waiting to be wanted and to become more important than tasks.
While this pandemic requires “mask” wearing I am discovering that to find meaning in the midst of the pandemic means that I take my “mask” off before Jesus and look to Him for real meaning, not at what I do or accomplish. As Hebrews 4:13 says, all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account. Lord, continue to expose the neediness of my heart for you.
Although our ability to travel and connect with pastors and leaders has been limited, God has graciously allowed us to entertain several of them in our home. We are so grateful for that opportunity and please know that our home is open and we would love to have you come and stray with us.
